Itinerary (B = breakfast, L = lunch, D = dinner)
Day 1 CAIRO Arrival at Cairo International Airport where you will be welcomed by our representative and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day at leisure. A fine opportunity to become acquainted with the city.
Day 2 CAIRO (B) Your tour this morning includes the renowned Cairo museum with its priceless treasures. Home of the richest collection of antiquities ever discovered including the fabulous burial treasure of king Tutankhamun. The Citadel of Salah El Din built 1183 AD overlooking Cairo. Continue to Sultan Hassan Mosque and the Khan El Khalili Bazaar.
Day 3 CAIRO (B) A full day tour begins with a visit to the Great Pyramid and the colossal Sphinx of Giza which stand on a desert plateau majestically, as they have for 35 centuries. Continue to Memphis the capital of ancient Egypt. Although most of the city has been destroyed by time, the magnificent Alabaster sphinx and statue of Ramses II remain. Then on to Sakkara to see the step Pyramid of King Zoser and the wall of Cobras.
Day 4 CAIRO-ALEXANDRIA (B) Today drive north towards the Mediterranean to the city of Alexandria, once the Queen city of the Mediterranean and meeting place of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra . We arrive late in the morning. Sightseeing includes; Pompey’s Pillar, the fort of Qait Bey, the Amphitheater, the Greco-Roman museum of Antiquities and more.
Day 5 ALEXANDRIA-CAIRO (B) Continue the sightseeing this morning to the Catacombes , the Royal Jewelry museum and the Montazah Gardens. Free time for lunch (optional) and drive south along the desert road back to Cairo.
Day 6 CAIRO-LUXOR(NILE CRUISE) (B,L,D) Early this morning you will be escorted to the Cairo airport for your short flight to Luxor, where you embark on the Nile cruise ship, your floating hotel for the next five days. Settle in and enjoy a peaceful lunch on board, then you are off to explore the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. Colossal statues, shrines and obelisks built over the centuries are featured at the magnificent Temples. Dinner on board the ship followed by a belly dance show.
Day 7 LUXOR-EDFU (B,L,D) Cross the Nile this morning to Luxor’s west Bank, where you will explore the astonishing new kingdom city of Thebes. Sightseeing includes the Valley of the Kings a palatial resting place of Egypt’s Pharaos , the Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Queen Hatsepsut at Deir El Bahari, the great Temple of Ramses III and the Colossi of Memnon, two huge seated statues of Amenhotep III, facing the Nile. Return to the ship. Enjoy your lunch on board as you sail to Edfu. This evening the Captain’s welcome cocktail party followed by dinner.
Day 8 EDFU-KOM OMBO (B,L,D) Sightseeing this morning in Edfu includes the Temple of Horus the falcon God and master of the sky, where elaborate murals give you an insight into ancient rituals. Enjoy lunch on board as you sail south into Upper Egypt to Kom Ombo. Sightseeing includes Kom Ombo and the Temple dedicated to two gods; Sobec the crocodile god and Haroeis the Sun god. Tonight dinner on board followed by a calabeya party.
Day 9 KOM OMBO-ASWAN (B,L,D) This morning cruise the Nile deeper into Upper Egypt towards Aswan. Sightseeing includes the High Dam built by Egypt’s President Nasser, to control the flooding of the Nile, the Ancient Granite Quarries, the unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Isis on the Island of Philae. After lunch enjoy a felucca sail boat ride to view the Elephantine Island and the hill top Mausoleum of Agha Khan and the Kichener’s island. Dinner tonight is followed by a Nubian Folkloric show.
Day 10 ASWAN-CAIRO (B) Disembark after breakfast this morning (optional excursion to Abu Simbel is available before your flight) and transfer to the airport for your flight to Cairo. You will be met upon arrival and escorted to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure for your own activities. Day 11 CAIRO (B) A farewell to Cairo this morning as your escort will take you to the airport for your flight home.
