Itinerary (B = breakfast, L = lunch, D = dinner)
Day 1 ROME Depart via overnight International flight to Rome with all meals on board.
Day 2 ROME You will be met upon arrival at Rome’s airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free, settle in, relax or stroll around in this fascinating city.
Day 3 ROME (B) An introduction to historical Rome with a morning tour. Featured sites are the famed Trevi fountain, Piaza Venezia, Piaza Navona, and the Quirinal Palace, residence of the Italian president. Visit the Pantheon and St. Peters Basilica. The afternoon is at leisure to explore on your own.
Day 4 NAPLES-POMPEII-SORRENTO (B,L,D) Morning departure via the panoramic “Sun Highway” to Naples, founded by the Greeks in the 7th century BC, heart of the romantic south and birth place of Caruso. After a tour of the city we proceed to the ancient city of Pompeii whose secrets were preserved by the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. Continue to the lovely town of Sorrento for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 SORRENTO-CAPRI-ROME (B,L) This morning we sail by steamer to the flower-laden resort island of Capri. Weather permitting a visit to the unusual Blue Grotto. Afterwards tour the picturesque town of Anacapri. Time for lunch and leisure before returning by boat to Sorrento. Continue back to Rome.
Day 6 ROME (B) Enjoy a full day at leisure in Rome. So much to see and do.
Day 7 ASSISI-SIENA-FLORENCE (B,D) Travel north this morning to the birthplace of St. Francis, visit the Basilica containing one of the most imposing series of frescoes. Then continue to the heart of Tuscany to the beautiful rust colored city of Siena. Time for lunch (optional) before visiting the medieval center and the famous Piazza del Campo. Continue to Florence for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 FLORENCE (B,D) Today we tour the city of Michelangelo, rich in history and artistic wealth. A paradise for art lovers and shopping enthusiasts. Sightseeing includes visits to the Baptistry, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower and Signoria square. The afternoon is at leisure for your own activities, you may choose to continue exploring the city on your own or take an optional tour to Pisa. Dinner and overnight in Florence.

Day 9 FLORENCE-PADUA-VENICE (B,D) The morning is free today in Florence. By early afternoon depart to Padua to visit the 13th century basilica of St. Anthony and continue to the floating city of Venice for dinner and overnight.

Day 10 VENICE (B,D) More than 100 islands make up this remarkable floating city that boasts the most extraordinary collection of architectural styles in Europe. You will be transferred by boat this morning to St. Mark’s Square to start your walking tour. Visit the San Marco Square the Golden Basilica, Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. The afternoon is free for your own activities, you may consider a visit (optional) to a glass factory or a scenic gondola ride. |

Day 11 BOLOGNA-SAN MARINO-ROME (B) Travel south this morning to the beautiful city of Bologna, a short stop will be made for a tour of the city and continue to San Marino, a country within a country, and one of the oldest republics in Europe. Free time for lunch (optional) and resume your journey to Rome.
Day 12 ROME (B) Sleep late this morning. Then, continue to explore this city of endless wonders. Perhaps Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel or the famous gardens of Tivoli and the Villa d’Este.
Day 13 ROME (B) Farewell Rome this morning as you will be transferred to the airport for your departing flight home.
